JaneG.Pisano
- President
Jane G. Pisano was recently elected President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, where she has served since 1989. She also chairs the Research and Grants Committee of the Foundation. Dr. Pisano is President and Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. Previously, she served as Vice President of External Relations at the University of Southern California, a position she assumed following service as a USC professor and Dean of the School of Public Administration. Dr. Pisano is the past President of the Los Angeles 2000 Committee and the former Director of Olympic Programs at the Times Mirror Company. She has also worked as a special assistant at the National Security Council and as a professor at Georgetown University. Dr. Pisano is active on many Boards, including the California Community Foundation, Town Hall Los Angeles, the National Academy of Public Administration and the Lincoln Club. She has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a former member of the State of California Constitution Revision Commission. Dr. Pisano earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from John Hopkins University Nitze School of Advanced International Studies and her B.A. from Stanford. |

A Los Angeles native, Mr. Garcetti was elected to the Haynes Foundation Board in June 2006. He is a photographer with four photo books published in the last four years. Previously he served as the Los Angeles County District Attorney for eight years and was a member of that office for 32 years. Currently, he is President of the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission, a commission that has oversight responsibility to enforce city election and conflict of interest laws. A member of several philanthropic boards, Mr. Garcetti also is the Consulting Producer for the hit TNT television series, “The Closer.” |

PhillipM.Hawley

Philip M. Hawley is the former Chair and CEO of Carter Hawley Hale Stores, which at the time of his retirement was the biggest department store chain in the West. Mr. Hawley built a distinguished career at Carter Hawley Hale. He was CEO from 1977-1993. In 1975, Mr. Hawley was named California Industrialist of the Year by the California Museum of Science and Industry, and in 1989, he received the Harvard Business School Statesman of the Year Award. Mr. Hawley has been a fixture in the business world for decades, having served as a Director of AT&T, Atlantic Richfield Company, Bank of America, Johnson & Johnson, Walt Disney Company and Weyerhaeuser. He is an active member of The Business Roundtable and Business Council. In addition to serving as a Haynes Foundation Trustee (since 1976), Mr. Hawley is a Trustee Emeritus of the Huntington Library and Art Gallery, the University of Notre Dame and the California Institute of Technology. Mr. Hawley graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Berkeley in 1947 and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard in 1967. |

Kent Kresa was chairman of the Board of Directors of Northrop Grumman Corporation from September 1990 until October 2003. He served as chief executive officer from January 1990 until March 2003, and president from 1987 until September 2001. Northrop Grumman is a $25 billion global defense company with approximately 120,000 employees worldwide. Prestigious awards for Mr. Kresa's leadership of Northrop Grumman include Forbes magazine's "Company of the Year" recognition in December 2002; Aviation Week magazine's 2002 Laurel Citation for achievements in aeronautics/propulsion; California Institute of Technology's Management Association's Excellence in Management Award for demonstrating extraordinary vision and leadership; the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his significant contributions to our nation's heritage; the Howard Hughes Memorial Award for his contributions to the advancement of aviation and space technology; and his selection by Business Week magazine as one of the nation's Top 25 managers for 2001. Kresa serves on the Boards of Advanced Bionics; Avery Dennison Corporation; Eclipse Aviation Corporation; Fluor Corporation; General Motors Corporation; Trust Company of the West; and several non-profit organizations and universities. He is a senior advisor for The Carlyle Group. As a graduate of M.I.T., he received a B.S. in 1959, an M.S. in 1961, and an E.A.A. in 1966, all in Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was elected to the Haynes Foundation Board in 2003. |

F. HaynesLindley, Jr.
- President Emeritus
F. Haynes Lindley, Jr. is the President Emeritus of the Haynes Foundation and a grand nephew of Foundation founder John Randolph Haynes. He has been a Haynes Trustee since 1978 and served as President for 10 years. Mr. Lindley graduated from Claremont Men's College in 1967 and received a Master of Fine Arts from Claremont Graduate School in 1972. He earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 1976. As an attorney, Mr. Lindley has worked in private practice, for the California State Bar and as a deputy public defender in Los Angeles County. He is a former Director of TreePeople, a California conservation project, and of the Southern California Association for Philanthropy. Currently, Mr. Lindley sits on the Board of Directors of the Marin Agricultural Land Trust and is an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of Claremont Graduate School. |

Daniel A. Mazmanian is C. Erwin and Ione Piper Dean and Professor of the School of Policy, Planning and Development, at the University of Southern California. A leading scholar in the fields of environmental policy and policy implementation, his books include, Toward Sustainable Communities (1999), Beyond Superfailure: America's Toxic Policy for the 1990s (1992), Implementation and Public Policy (2nd ed. 1989), Can Regulation Work? (1979), and Third Parties in Presidential Elections (1974). Before joining USC, Mazmanian served as Dean of the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan. Prior to that he served as in the positions of professor and director of the Center for Politics and Economics at Claremont Graduate University, assistant through full Professor at Pomona College, and as a research associate at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Mazmanian received his Ph.D. in political science from Washington University and his M.A. and B.A. from San Francisco State University. In addition to the Haynes Foundation, to which he was elected in 1994, Dr. Mazmanian serves as a senior associate at the California Institute of Public Affairs, board of directors of the California Center for Regional Leadership, executive council of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, executive committee of the Transatlantic Policy Consortium, and the advisory council of the Public Policy Institute of California. |

HarryP.Pachon

Harry P. Pachon is President of The Tomas Rivera Policy Institute, a national renowned research center on public policy and Latino issues. The institute is headquartered at the University of Southern Californias School of Policy Planning and Development, where Dr. Pachon is a public policy professor. A leading scholar in the field of U.S. citizenship and Latino politics, Dr. Pachon earned a Ph.d. in government from Claremont Graduate School in 1973. He went on to teach at Michigan State University and City University of New York, served as chief of staff to Congressman Edward R. Roybal, and managed the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Education Fund for 10 years. He is presently a board member of Southern California Public Radio (KPCC). Dr. Pachon was elected a Trustee of the Haynes Foundation in 1998. He has co-authored three books, including New Americans By Choice: Political Perspective of Latino Immigrants, published in 1994 by Westview Press. |

Gilbert T. Ray was elected to the Haynes Foundation Board of Trustees in 1992. He retired as a partner of O'Melveny & Meyers LLP on January 31, 2000. Mr. Ray is very active in Los Angeles civic affairs, having served as a founding member of the City Ethics Commission and as Executive Director of the Independent Commission on the Los Angeles Police Department (the Warren Christopher Commission), which recommended a series of voter-approved reforms following L.A.'s civil unrest of 1992. A past President of the Central City Association of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Community Development Bank and the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mr. Ray currently sits on the boards of HMS Host, Advance Auto Parts Company, St. John's Health Center Foundtion, Anchor Pathway Fund, Seasons Series Fund, SunAmerica Series Trust, Watson Wyatt Company, Sierra Monolithics, Inc. and the Automobile Club of Southern California. In 1992, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund named him Civil Rights Advocate of the Year. Mr. Ray received a B.A. from Ashland University in 1966, an M.B.A. from the University of Toledo in 1968 and his J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 1972. |

Willis B. Wood, Jr. is the retired Chairman and CEO of Pacific Enterprises (now part of Sempra Energy), a holding company whose major subsidiary is Southern California Gas Company. He joined the Pacific Enterprises Companies in 1960 and has held many executive positions within in its auxiliaries. A graduate of the University of Tulsa, Mr. Wood holds a degree in petroleum engineering and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has been a Haynes Trustee since 1998 and is also a Trustee of the University of Southern California and Harvey Mudd College. Mr. Wood is the Chairman of the American Automobile Association and serves as a Director of the Automobile Club of Southern California and Washington Mutual Inc. In 1995, Mr. Wood was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Tulsa. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Pepperdine University School of Business in 1996. |
